The vineyards cultivated by the cooperative amount to more than 1.000 hectares owned by all the members who comprise it. Additionally, around the winery, there are 9 hectares of vineyards cultivated with great dedication, which can be visited along with the winery tour. These vineyards are a testament to the cooperative’s commitment to quality and authenticity.

The region of Valdepeñas and its surroundings can be considered as a very special small island in the sea of vineyards of Castilla-La Mancha, thanks to its unique characteristics such as its soil diversity due to the topography, all of it dotted with small hills, and the existence of very old vineyards, originating from the area’s great winemaking tradition.

The most cultivated and representative grape varieties of the area are the white Airén and the red Tempranillo. Additionally, in recent years, the area has seen an increase in more varieties, with notable white varieties being Macabeo, Verdejo, and Chardonnay, and among red varieties, we highlight Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Garnacha.

Our work at the cooperative is to assist all our farmers from the vineyard itself, with continuous supervision from our technical department, which helps and advises on the day-to-day decisions to our vinegrowers.

The tradition of Valdepeñas in winemaking dates back to ancient times, since the Iberians, and its history has been written with passion by people dedicated to vine cultivation, by merchants, travelers, winemakers, and wine consumers… and by legends of our most international literature such as Don Quixote.

We were one of the first wine regions in Spain to be recognized and protected as a Designation of Origin. And we maintain a great recognition of quality both nationally and internationally.

Currently, Vinícola de Valdepeñas is the only wine cooperative existing in the city of Valdepeñas, and we control a large part of the best dry-farmed vineyards in the area, which guarantees our high quality year after year.
